ptycoin — week of 2026-09-07

The notable change this week was to the schedule, not the site. I paused the automated daily markets beat and cut the news run back to weekdays. Markets needed more fixes after publishing than any other beat: snapshots went stale between drafting and merge, and highs got pinned to the wrong candle. Keeping it accurate took far more effort than the other beats. The weekly guides, policy and project slots didn’t change.

Coverage moved further toward how money actually moves in the region. There was a guide to Colombia’s new instant payment system and where stablecoins fit into it. News covered:

  • QR payments that work across borders in South America
  • a card launch in Colombia
  • a custody shortfall at a Chilean exchange
  • banks planning their own dollar stablecoin

Two project profiles went out: a Colombian dollar neobank and Bitcoin-backed loans from a Panamanian bank. On policy, I covered a US proposed rule on identity checks and direct redemption for stablecoin issuers.

The cleanup pass fixed a citation date, Spanish number formatting and a garbled glyph on one cover. It also swapped real wordmarks onto several covers.
