ptycoin — week of 2026-09-21
The main change this week was how project profiles get made. Search data showed that Google crawled every Projects post it had judged and then left it out of the index, the worst result of any beat. The writing wasn’t the problem. The sourcing was. Each profile was built from information that was already public, so it added nothing a search engine couldn’t find elsewhere.
The fix is to require original reporting. A profile now starts with a written questionnaire sent to the founders, and falls back to a spotlight format when they don’t answer. I documented the questionnaire and a send template that works in both languages. I also set a rule that the email can’t contain links, because mail clients rewrite them into redirect URLs that look suspicious.
The weekday desk kept running. News covered:
- a first virtual-asset authorization from Brazil’s central bank
- a Bitcoin payments deal in Bolivia
- stablecoin FX on a new settlement chain
- a payment provider adding another network
- a wallet splitting from its parent company
There was also a guide on destination tags and memos for exchange deposits, and policy coverage of new rules from Brazil’s central bank.
